About CPTAV
The Council of Professional Teaching Associations of Victoria (CPTAV) is the peak body representing professional teaching associations in Victoria.
It represents over forty member associations, with a collective membership of more than 30,000 Victorian teachers and other educators, in negotiations with the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) and a wide range of other organisations.
CPTAV seeks to link, promote and serve professional teaching associations. It provides state and national perspectives on current and future educational initiatives. The professional learning offered by associations contributes significantly to the success of educational reforms. Members are in the vanguard of development and reforms, working with their peers.
- They are futures literate
- They manage knowledge smartly
- They are activists
- They lead change and systems
The professional teacher diagnoses student needs, designs and develops curriculum, makes decision and delivers appropriate programs and pedagogies to individual and groups of students.
CPTAV works across sectors and with all stakeholders to multi-skill teachers and to reinforce professional knowledge and standards.
The Council ensures that all members are fully conversant with DE&T Flagship Strategies. It is proud to be in partnership with the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development through the Strategic Partnerships Program.
