Pedagogical Practices and Philosophy - Working with State and Federal Institutions

  • The pedagogy that we employ to deliver professional learning needs to be consistent with the pedagogy we employ at the chalk face. If the latter is evolving, so should we be.
  • Becoming aware of the emerging/changeable demands of a new generation of learners is on a par with tailoring professional learning for a new generation of educators.
  • The new generation of teaching professionals will be:
  • Independent, with high self esteem
Sociable team players, who cope well with diversity and change, and connect well with people
    Creative thinkers
    Fast-paced, and time-conscious
Risk takers with no expectation of stability.
They are able to work generatively, building a shared and living vision.
  • The educational landscape is changing and traditional methods of delivering professional learning may be becoming obsolete.
  • Be aware that we are now in an age when both teachers and learners are expecting to be digital, connected, experiential, immediate and social and the web is their first source for information, they multitask, use multiple media, are visual, enjoy working in teams and with their peers, and want to be engaged?ask “is what and how we’re doing it still useful?”
  • Creativity is a type of learning process where the teacher and pupil are located in the same individual. Being both teacher and pupil is a challenging role for all educators. As professional teaching associations, we can help to provide the script.

CPTAV continues to be involved in the activities of the Victorian Institute of Teaching and Teaching Australia. In working with the agendas of these standards bodies, CPTAV promotes the ideal of a professional learning framework/professional standards structure which is responsive to the requirements of teachers to deliver the evolving education reform agenda in Victoria and throughout Australia.

Through the auspices of the Strategic Partnerships Program (SPP) the CPTAV facilitates dynamic partnerships between  cultural and scientific organisations and professional teaching associations. The program connects learning and teaching with communities and practice beyond the classroom. It offers deep and broad authentic learning experiences that foster the development of life-long learning in students and diverse educational strategies and best practice for teachers.

We imagine a future which only our students will see. Negotiate new situations.
