Values EducationThe Council of Professional Teaching Associations of Victoria, together with the Australian Joint Council of Professional Teaching Associations, participates in a National Values Education Partnership with the Commonwealth Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations. The Statement of Requirement for this National Partnership Project states "that all Australian school students acquire the knowledge and skills to participate effectively in society and employment in a globalised economy." To fulfill this aim students are expected to be equipped with: The CPTAV facilitates the development of strategies for teachers to support student wellbeing, youth engagement, resilience and Civics and Citizenship Education. It builds and strengthens teacher capacity in one or more of the above areas. In addition, CPTAV utilises the National Framework for Values Education in Australian Schools.
The Framework recognizes the values, education policies and programmes already in place in education jurisdictions, Australian schools and cultural organizations. It also recognizes that they draw on a range of philosophies, beliefs and traditions. in the light of this, CPTAV is proud to publicize programs offered by cultural organizations in Melbourne.
