Values EducationIn Victoria, we have a rich curriculum framework, the Victorian Essential Learning Standards, which identifies three interwoven purposes of schooling that prepare learners for success in education, work and life by equipping them with the capability to manage themselves and their relations with others, understand the world and act effectively in that world. The framework applies P-10 so most of our professional teaching associations, some in partnership with cultural and scientific organizations, have been developing and weaving a rich curriculum tapestry. In addition, CPTAV also utilises the National Framework for Values Education in Australian Schools. The Framework recognizes the values, education policies and programmes already in place in education authorities and Australian schools. It also recognizes that there is a significant history of values education in government and non-government schools drawing on a range of philosophies, beliefs and traditions.
